The collection of belts of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum numbers 113 pieces, most of which dates from the 19th century. Sklepanci are slightly greater in number (120 pieces), whose origins range from the 17th and 19th to the 20th century.

Notwithstanding the level of mechanisation of modern agriculture, whetstone holders are still in use in many places throughout Slovenia.

However, to many people - of different levels of education - the word oselnik sounds unfamiliar. This is generally true for people in urban centres, but also of those living in villages where the object has a quite different name. Everybody, though, knows what a scythe is...
