This catalogue with the toys acquired by the museum between 1933 (the first entry of toys in the inventory book) and 1998.

They were owned by either peasant or town children. Prior to 1933 there was no major production of toys in territory of Slovenia and the only simplest kind of toys were made by peasants and craftsmen.

Painted beehive panels, a variety of folk art created largley by and for the Slovene lower (rural) classes, are known only from al limited area of the Slovene ethnic territory.

The first appeared after the middle of the 18th century, achieved their greates flowering in the period between 1820 and 1880, and died out in the early 20th century in the face of changed socio-economic conditions and new ideas...

Blue-printing, also called resist-printing or block-printing, is a special method of printing patterns on cloth.

It is essentially a process during which blue-printing blocks transfer pap-like, gluey substance (the resist) onto fabric. When the fabric is dyed blue, the resist prevents the dye from reaching the fabric and becoming bound to its fibres.
