The White Land Between the Gorjanci Mountain Range and the Kolpa River

Temporary exhibition presents the natural and cultural heritage of Bela krajina in ten beautiful images (15.9. – 20.10. 2021 on museum platform in front of SEM)

Through these photographs the combinations linking the abundant cultural and natural heritage of Bela krajina are shown. A special bond is demonstrated that connects nature with culture, folk tradition with modern music and our white linen folk costume with leather belts. The undulating landscape is adorned by varied fauna and our three emerald rivers Kolpa, Lahinja and Krupa which blend seamlessly with our landscape parks, lovely viewpoints and traditional fern lands (steljniki). All of this colourful exuberance is tied into a bouquet of culinary experiences continuously and generously offered to visitors while exploring this land of white folk costume and gentle white birches.

The exhibition has been prepared by The Cultural Centre Semič, Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia – unit Novo mesto, The Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia – unit Novo mesto and Mrs Mira Ivanovič.
