While the exhibition Folk art between home and the world: the SEM’s and IRWIN’s NSK Folk Art collections faces the Slovene folk art with NSK folk art created by the citizens of the NSK State in Time, the bilingual German English book Weapons of Mass Instruction, edited by Alexander Nym, is an anthology of speeches, reports and documents of the NSK State in time. It is a crucial document for understanding the NSK State in Time as well as for its citizens' activities.

The Book

The text collection Weapons of Mass Instruction documents the NSK State in Time in the phase following the Berlin Citizens' Congress (2010) rihgt up to the last before the pandemic break. It turns the view towards alternate ideas of statehood in the mirror of this State in Time, this abstract, totalitarian unit encompassing art and politics, theory and practise, as well as dystopian doubt and utopian idealism. The book is a unique entry point to what is arguably the most durable and far-reaching art project in existance.

The NSK State in Time
Founded in 1992 after the  independence of the Slovenia the NSK State in Time was conceived as both a continuation and dissolution of artist movement Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK), which has emerged in Ljubljana in 1984. After the brakeup of Jugoslavia and the independence of its former republics NSK State offered the artistic vision of a global state without borders, without territory and the citizenship of which is open to everyone, worldwide. In time, citizens began to create their own artworks, events and performances based on the diverse aesthetics, techniques and contents provided by NSK founding groups Laibach, Irwin and Noordung, and complementing them in theory and practise.
