“Talking crosses”. The materialised memory of the biggest Mayan revolt
From their first encounters with the European conquerors the Maya showed their distrust of all things foreign and different. The colonial revolts against the Spanish rule and the intrusion of European Christian culture continued throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and into the present. They have taken the form of socio-religious movements, colonial revolts, the 19th century Caste War, and the present pan-Maya movement for cultural independence.

Furniture for all times. Addressing furniture as a contribution to the research into material culture
The article is based on physical and documentation material collected in the course of a
project that focused on the Naglas family from Ljubljana and the Naglas company, which
produced furniture from the mid 19th to the mid 20th century. The central focus of the
article derives from its study of the family’s (former) bourgeois home and its interior
furnishings. The material dwelling environment actively participates in the construction of
everyday life, influences movements and events in space, and creates a unique perception

Muzej se na razstavi in pričujočem katalogu loteva atraktivne vizualizirane predstavitve na eni strani slovenskih zbiralcev afriških zbirk, ki jih hrani muzej, ter na drugi strani sodelovanja s slovenskimi Afričani, katerih transnacionalne identitete spoznavamo ob gledanju video pripovedi o njihovih osebnih predmetih kakor tudi skozi kratke zapise njihovih osebnih izkušenj in pogledov na teme, kot so: družinska povezava z domovino, prvi stiki z Jugoslavijo, izobraževanje, organizacije Afričanov, poklicno udejstvovanje, identiteta, kulturna izmenjava in povezava z domovino.
