"What is life like for women in Turkey": researching the diversity of relationships between the genders through the opinions and experiences of Turkish women in Slovenia
The article takes a critical look at Orientalist beliefs about the subjugation of women in Islam. It questions whether the suppression of women really is inherent to Islam and summarises some criticism of this type of discourse by various authors and interviewees, focusing particularly on the division of labour and dress habits. It also deals with the influence of national discourses and imageries on the formation of the relations between the sexes.

"Kako pa živijo ženske v Turčiji?" : raziskovanje raznolikosti odnosov med spoloma skozi mnenja in izkušnje Turkinj v Sloveniji
Članek kritično obravnava orientalistična prepričanja o podrejenosti žensk v islamu. Razmišlja, če je zatiranje žensk res inherentno islamu, in povzame nekatere kritike takih diskurzov s strani avtoric in sogovornic. Pri tem se posebej osredotoča na delitev dela in na oblačilne prakse. Obravnava tudi vpliv, ki ga imajo na oblikovanje odnosov med spoloma nacionalni diskurzi in imaginariji. Prikazati želi, da ima na oblikovanje odnosov med spoloma v Turčiji večji vpliv turški nacionalni projekt kot pa islam kot tak.
