"We got along better in Trieste than in Piran"

The author analyses the social memories of the inhabitants of the Istrian village of Sv. Peter which are related to Trieste from 1900 to 1941. He establishes the significance of social memories and the historical experience connected with them to the cultural tradition of a community in which Trieste has preserved the position of an economic and symbolic urban centre.
