The present text, slightly re-edited by the author, was written on the occasion of the production of a documentary film as part of the Slovene television programmes of RAYs provincial branch for Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It presents a short historical outline of the centenary operation of the Skedenj (Servola) Iron-works but also social aspects of the workers' life and of the villages.
