The article is the result of the research
project involving women who sought help at the Bežigrad Social Work Centre in Ljubljana. The author used the biographical method and gathered the stories of the lives of twelve women. Through these stories she uncovered the traumas and hardships women have in daily life. Most frequently quoted were the problems with their partners. The condition of women improved only after they had become aware of their needs as women, not only as wives and mothers.
