Prejudices about women gossiping more often than men usually appear in connection with certain social roles and expectations. Putting women in a subordinate position has always brought economic and psychological benefits the like of cheap labour, limited competition, feelings of superiority in situations where someone is (considered) inferior. When women started to oppose their subordinated position, they met with various forms of intolerance and one of them manifests itself in misogynous stereotypes about women’s weak nature.
