Pilgrimages and identity processes
Camino de Santiago is one of the world’s biggest pilgrimage routes whose history and signifi- cance has a specific place in the world as one of the key landmarks not only of Christianity, but also of modern Europe. The processes that take place on this pilgrimage route certainly deserve major attention by researchers, directed on one hand towards an analysis of the material aspects of Camino, and, on the other hand, towards an analysis of the subjective aspects of pilgrimages, such as identity processes and the phenomenon of personal transfor- mations connected with pilgrimages.
