Films about the origin of the Babčevi fishing collection from Nabrežina near Trieste
The Babčevi fishing collection from Nabrežina / Aurisina near Trieste is one of rare collections in the Slovene Ethnographic Museum that boasts with three films.
Memories of a Nabrežina Fisherman portraits Zdravko Caharija Babčev, who created a fishing collection in the attic of his house. Čupa, the Vessel of the Slovene Fishermen presents the only completely preserved sea-going dugout – čupa Marija and the meaning of dogouts for Slovene fishermen on the Trieste coast in general. Memories of my Uncle, a Fisherman is a parallel to the portrait of Zdravko Caharija. After his death in 2010, care of the family fishing collection was taken over by his nephew Bogdan Petelin. The film documents the collection in the attic of the Babčevi family house in Nabrežina / Aurisina, just before it went to the Slovene Ethnographic Museum in Ljubljana.
