First outlining the history of research walking and writing, the authors proceed to discuss three interrelated themes based on their own fieldwork: mobile practices of shepherds and livestock breeders, biography in space and walking with a river. In conclusion, they reflect not only on the relation between walking and participant observation, between the writing of a research essay and field notes and diary, but also touch upon the question of the wider applicability of research walking method and writing in ethnology and anthropology.
