Vineyard shelters belong to the kind of heritage called temporarily settled buildings or, in short, shelters. In the Vipava Valley they are called cottages (literally: land cottages). The density of vineyard shelters is very high in the Vipava Valley. Considering individual areas their density is the highest around the village of Slap and in the Pasji rep Valley; these shelters are also the oldest ones. Vineyard shelters are classified into two types with subtypes depending on their age and shape.
