The article brings a survey of the research project "Research of Slovene dialects in Carinthia", carried out by the Institute for Slavistics of the Klagenfurt / Celovec University. During the first decade of its implementation (1984-1994) the project's archive acquired approx. 100 sound tapes and about 90 cassettes of dialect material. The author of the present article was appointed head of the project in 1994 and introduced visual dialectology to the discipline. The archive now contains about 70 tapes of visual material.
