The article was inspired by the book Sledovi časa - Bela krajina na razglednicah v letih 1895-1945 (Traces of time - Bela krajina on picture postcards between 1895 and 1945). The author analyses the motifs on these picture postcards in order to trace themes of possible interest to ethnology. He points out how valuable and useful the information provided by this kind of pictorial material can he, but also emphasises that the information has to be verified by printed and
written documents and oral sources.
