The African years of Baron Codelli of Ljubljana
Baron Anton III Codelli (1875-1954) spent four years of his life (1911-1914) in the German colony Togo in West Equatorial Africa. He was in charge of the construction of wireless telegraph stations, participated in expeditions to the North of the country and took an active part in shooting documentary films and a feature film on Africa. The most important West-African collection in the Museum of Non-European Cultures in Goričane consists of Codelli's ethnological exhibits and those collected by his fellow workers Leo Poljanec and Hinko Kesler.
