The pilgrimage church on Mt. Šmarna gora is among the oldest and most important places of pilgrimage, though nowadays more people climb the mountain for the sake of tourism, recreation, sports, education and the like than for a pilgrimage. The emphasis of this research is on the pilgrimage to the Madonna of the Rosary on Šmarna gora in the 19th century. The baroque church on Šmarna gora, one of the peaks of Slovene memorial heritage, and is mainly visited by worshippers from nearby.
