Anthropoloy and public health: experiences of discrepancies, attempts at convergence

The article deals with the participation of anthropologists in public health. Part one shows the significance of anthropology in both the academic research sphere and applied sphere of public health, whilst also analysing certain epistemological and methodological problems that can be observed in the participation of anthropologists in public health institutions. Part two, using an example from Slovenia, offers critical reflection on the participation of a group of anthropologists in the National Institute for Public Health project "For Better Health and Reduction of Inequalities in Health - Together for Health". In addition to describing the individual measures produced within the group's project activities, certain theoretical-conceptual and methodological discrepancies that emerged in the interdisciplinary project group are discussed, as well as overcoming these discrepancies.
