The ethnology of the body
The ethnology of the body is a field of research that is interested in the arts of modifying, deforming and decorating the human body, the expressiveness of the moving body, disease and health, out-of-body experiences, awareness, and the articulation of one's own or some else’s bodiness. In these areas, the ethnology of the body is mainly interested in the primary functions of the mentioned aspects, for instance prevention, curative effects, rituality, intimidation, prestige, and attempts to go beyond and combine the dichotomy of nature and culture, the individual and society, the physical and mental.
