Creative workshop for children Little Craftsman: Tanzanian stories in coffee - Creating with the colores od nature

You will listen to the stories of museum objects from Tanzania that tell of the local way of life. You will discover which crops, familiar to us, are grown on Tanzanian plantations, and then we will dive into creating. For some truly special effects, we will even use coffee in our drawings!

The workshop will be led by Eliabu Mbonimpa, a curator and artist from Tanzania, who is currently researching the Tanzanian collection at the Slovene Ethnographic Museum. SEM curator Tina Palaić will introduce you to the selected museum objects.

The workshop, held as part of International Museum Day, will be conducted in English with Slovene translation. It is suitable for children aged 5 to 12.

Number of participants is limited. Please register by 16 May 2026, 12:00 at E: katarina.nahtigal@etno-muzej.si. Free admission!

The workshop is part of the project Tracing Colonialism: The Tanzanian Collection in Slovenia. The project is carried out as part of TheMuseumsLab CollabFund initiative, funded by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation) and the Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media).
